Can International Humanitarian Organisations Adapt to Face the Challenges of this Century?’ with Yves Daccord

Yves Daccord, the former Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), delivered a talk at the Oxford Martin School. He drew from his extensive experience and expertise to shed light on the evolving landscape of the humanitarian aid industry, emphasizing the enduring influence of historical legacies. Daccord highlighted the critical challenges posed by the rapidly changing needs and expectations of individuals and groups impacted by disasters and armed conflicts, prompting a thought-provoking discussion on the readiness of international humanitarian organizations to effectively address these challenges – both now and in the future. The session ended with a Q&A session with our co-director Prof. Andrew Thompson.
