Research

Our team of research experts explores the roles played by international and regional organisations in managing past and present global shocks. Leveraging a wealth of cutting-edge historical and social science scholarship, we seek to enhance our understanding of global governance and improve conditions for collaborative, cohesive, and coordinated institutional responses to 21st-century challenges. We challenge conventional views and draw on deeper academic knowledge structures to dissect how different regions and institutions have conceptualised ‘international order’ and ‘global governance.’ The turbulence framework guides our exploration of how institutions adapt and change over time. Our research interests span food security and political economy, the response of international non-governmental organisations to disasters and emergencies, international legal institutions and concepts of expertise, and the roles and activities of regional organisations.
