Professor Louise Fawcett

Professor Louise Fawcett, an international relations scholar at St Catherine’ College with a special expertise in area studies, focuses on the diverse regional responses to global challenges throughout modern history.

Emphasizing different Global South perspectives, Fawcett aims to leverage historical insights and institutional practices to address emerging global challenges. In the aftermath of the impact of COVID-19, which has laid bare numerous deficiencies in both global and regional governance, Fawcett undertakes the critical task of evaluating how regions and their institutions have reacted to shocks like pandemics. Her larger objective is to contribute to ongoing discussions regarding the revaluation and redesigning of global and regional orders. Drawing on her international networks, Fawcett’s work provides new insights into the adaptive capacities of regions and their institutions in the face of global challenges.
